Confirming Najib's death on the social networking site Twitter, the Afghanistan Cricket Board said that Najib was seriously injured in a car accident on October 2 and had to undergo surgery.
It was reported that the Afghan cricketer was undergoing treatment in Nangarhar and the Afghan Cricket Board had said that he would be transferred for treatment outside Kabul or Afghanistan as soon as he gets permission from the health department officials.

Najib Tarakai played competitive cricket in the Shapagiza Premier League last month, scoring 32 runs for Miss Ink Knights.
He represented Afghanistan in 12 T20 Internationals and one ODI.
He made his international debut in the 2014 T20 World Cup and played against Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
He scored the highest score in international cricket against Ireland in 2017 when he played a 90-run innings while he last represented his country in international cricket against Bangladesh in September 2019 and he Played his only ODI against Ireland.
