Authorities say several boats sank during a parade on a lake in the US state of Texas in support of President Donald Trump in the November presidential election. Authorities say a large number of boats moved together on Lake Travis near the state capital, Austin.
In the pictures, boats with Trump campaign flags can be seen swaying. The media said that people had to be rescued from the water but no injuries have been reported so far.
The Travis Trump Boat Parade was held on Facebook and was attended by more than 2,600 people. Kirsten Dark, a spokeswoman for the Travis County Sheriff's Office, said an investigation had been launched but no evidence had been found.
"We responded to several calls from distressed boats, many of which sank," he said. Today we had an extraordinary number of boats on the lake and when they all started moving at the same time, it created strong waves.
The event's Facebook page called for boats to run at 16km / h. Paul Yura of the Austin Meteorological Department told the Associated Press that there were no storms in the area at the time of the parade.
