The smoke turned the atmosphere orange in California

Smoke from a wildfire in the US state of California has turned orange in the San Francisco area, while thousands of homes have been destroyed and seven people have been killed in the blaze.

In the past 48 hours, there have been three deaths in Northern California, three in the state of Oregon and one in Washington, according to Reuters.

The 100 major fires in Oregon are spreading to other western states, and officials say 64,000 people have been evacuated in California so far, while firefighters are on duty at 28 locations.

One-third of people were evacuated in the Butt County area alone, where the August 17 forest fire has spread to 200,000 acres.

In California, strong winds have reduced visibility due to smoke, which remained the same until the morning, and experts say it is unusual for the sky to turn orange with smoke.
