According to Indian media, Riya Chakraborty, who was arrested in connection with the alleged use and purchase of drugs in the case of Indian actor Sushnat Singh, who allegedly committed suicide, had filed a bail application in a Mumbai court which was rejected by the court.

The court also rejected the bail pleas of Riya's brother Shouk Chakraborty and eight other accused.

After his bail application was rejected by the court, Ryachakarvarti will now have to stay in Mumbai's Byculla jail on judicial remand till September 22.

In his bail plea, Ryachakarvarti deviated from his confessional statement and took the position that he was compelled to make a confessional statement when he had not committed any crime and had been wrongly implicated in the case.

In her petition, the actress revealed that she had been threatened with rape and death, while her mental condition and health had also been affected due to various investigations.

On the other hand, the Narcotics Control Bureau says that if Riya Chakraborty was released on bail, she could not only manipulate the evidence but also break witnesses on her influence and the power of money.

The Supreme Court in its judgment had directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Riya Chakraborty has denied the allegations leveled by Sushant's parents and has demanded a transparent inquiry into Sushant's death from Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah himself.
