The federal government has confirmed that the first Pakistani will be sent into space within the next four years under the space program.
Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed during a press conference after a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad that the government had approved sending the first Pakistani astronaut into space.
The Federal Minister for Information said that an agreement has also been reached between CMSA and SPARCO, a Pakistani agency working on aerospace research.
The Federal Minister for Information termed this work as very important for Pakistan's space program and said that it would usher in a new era of technology and space program.
During the press conference, Fawad Chaudhry also informed about other decisions taken in the meeting of the Federal Cabinet.
It may be recalled that Pakistan had launched two locally-built satellites into space for the first time in July this year.
In July, Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS) One and Pakistan Technology Evolution Satellite (Pak Tes One A) were launched into space.
These satellites will assist Pakistan in land mapping, agricultural classification and assessment, including urban and rural planning, environmental monitoring, disaster management, improving the country's socio-economic development and water resources management. Will get
