Innocent penguin died from swallowing face mask

Garbage and pollution also began to decrease as humans stopped leaving their homes during the Corona virus lockdown, but one of the essentials, face masks, poses a major threat to the environment. ۔

A face mask thrown in such an irresponsible manner killed an innocent penguin who had swallowed the mask.

An autopsy revealed the penguin was found dead off the coast of Brazil with an N95 face mask covering his entire stomach.

"We feared accidents of this nature and we had already alerted the world," said the aquatic biologist who examined the penguin's body.

According to him, this incident is a proof of how our discarded face masks can harm wildlife and aquatic life and cause their death.

He also said that the incident showed the irresponsibility of human beings as to how the mask was thrown in an inappropriate place which could be harmful not only to the animals but also to human health.

One of the greatest threats to the earth's wild and aquatic life was plastic, which in no way perishes in the earth and can remain on the earth for millions of years. It was also the cause of death of various animals.

Realizing the danger, measures were being taken to prevent the use of face masks, gloves, sanitizer bottles and other protective equipment waste after the corona virus posed a new threat.

The animal protection organization WWF warned in July that unsafe disposal of PPE used in hospitals could pose new threats to the environment.

Experts say that if we irresponsibly destroy even 1% of the protective equipment against the Corona virus, 10 million face masks every month will be polluting the environment and adding to the garbage.
