Saudi monarch addresses UN, calls for unity against Iran

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, in his speech at the United Nations, sharply criticized Iran and called for a united front to prevent it from acquiring weapons of mass destruction.

According to Reuters, Shah Salman said in his video address that Iran used the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers for its expansionist activities, establishing a terrorist network and terrorism.

Referring to the agreement, he said that "it has achieved nothing but chaos, extremism and hatred."

"We need a comprehensive solution and a strong position at the global level," he said.

"Our experience with the Iranian government has taught us a lesson that a partial solution and a softening cannot reduce the threats to world peace and stability," Shah Salman said.

Ali Reza Miriosofi, a spokesman for the Iranian mission to the United Nations, dismissed the allegations as baseless.

He said the Saudi ruler's unnecessary and unconstructive statement was aimed at "permanent distribution and arms sales" in the region.

Hezbollah to be disarmed

King Salman bin Abdulaziz said that a terrible explosion had taken place in Beirut last month due to Hezbollah's whims in the decision-making process in Lebanon.

He said that this terrorist organization should be disarmed.

A bomb blast near the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on August 4 killed at least 190 people and injured 6,000 others.

Later, as a result of violent protests against the ruling class in the country, the then Prime Minister Hassan Deb and his cabinet resigned.

Lebanon's political crisis has improved since French President Emmanuel Macron intervened to elect diplomat Mustafa Adib as the country's new prime minister earlier this month.

After taking office, Mustafa Adib had said that "there is a very limited opportunity for our country and all the political forces agree on the mission I have accepted."

The new prime minister had vowed to select a talented team, saying "there is no time for negotiations and promises, but time to work with everyone."

The United States later announced that it had banned two former Lebanese ministers for allegedly supporting Hezbollah.

A statement from the State Department said, "The United States has banned former Lebanese ministers Youssef Fanyanos and Ali Hassan Khalil from supplying material to the terrorist organization Hezbollah under an executive order."

The statement said that "Youssef Fanyanos and Ali Hassan Khalil provided political and economic support to Hezbollah as members of the former cabinet."

The United States has said in a statement that "recent sanctions show that Lebanese politicians who abuse their power to benefit Hezbollah politically and financially are as responsible as their own members of Hezbollah or There are corrupt businessmen and money launderers who have been supporting this terrorist organization for decades.
