During their experiments, the scientists genetically modified ACE-2 in only one of the lungs of one group of mice, and only in the brain of the other group. And when the virus was introduced into these mice, those whose brains were infected began to lose weight rapidly, and within six days they died.

This was not the case with mice whose lungs were affected. And when the first group of mice whose brains were affected was autopsied, scientists found that the virus had reached cortical neurons.

Scientists say their research has shown that neurons can be the target of coronavirus (SARS code two) attacks and have devastating effects. And locally the blood supply stops and the cells die.
