Prominent Lebanese footballer dies after days of life-and-death struggle
According to international media reports, the famous Lebanese footballer Mohammed Atavi was seriously injured in the shooting and his condition was critical for several days.
The 32-year-old footballer fought to the death in the intensive care unit of a local hospital and finally lost his life today.
He was returning from attending the funeral of a man killed in a Beirut bombing when he was shot in the head and seriously injured.
Mohamed Atavi was one of Lebanon's best footballers, winning the National League title three times and playing as a midfielder at various clubs.
The three-time national team captain has been praised by clubs as well as players for his services.
