"We are issuing an alert today and we will have to take a very bold step and decide on a two-week lockdown," said Hamad Hassan, Lebanon's interim health minister.

A total of 439 new cases of corona were reported in Lebanon on Sunday. The August 4 bombing in Beirut has left 55 medical centers out of service in the central city.

In a speech on state radio, Lebanon's interim health minister said ICUs in public and private hospitals were now full, and that the number of cases of corona was increasing rapidly, which was a major challenge for us.
