Turkish army occupies 15 kilometers inside the Iraqi border

Rebel TV, Turkey has resorted to aggression to achieve its strategic goals. Mohammad Reza al-Haider, head of the Iraqi parliament's security and defense committee, has expressed anger over Turkey's military intervention. He said Ankara's army crossed the border and occupied about 15km inside the border strip.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Al-Haider added that Turkey was relying on a previous security agreement that allowed access to five to seven kilometers of the border.

According to the head of the committee, Iraq categorically rejects any country that violates Iraq's sovereignty and carries out aerial bombardment inside its territory. At the same time, Iraqi officials deny the existence of armed groups on their soil that could target a neighboring country.

It should be noted that the ground and air military operation by Turkey in northern Iraq began in mid-June when Turkey moved its forces to northern Iraq by air. Since that date, there have been a series of sovereignty violations and attacks that have engulfed the border areas. The enraged Baghdad government twice summoned the Turkish ambassador and handed over a memorandum of protest.

Also on Monday, Turkey fired 15 artillery shells at Kurdish villages in northern Iraq. Similarly, in the Iraqi province of Dohuk, targets around the strategically important Jabal Khamtir were targeted.
