NAB chairman approves probe against Nawaz Sharif
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved an investigation into a new case against former prime minister and PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif and his brother Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
An inquiry has also been decided against former finance minister and senator Sartaj Aziz, the NAB chairman said in a meeting of the NAB executive board.
The nature of the inquiries was not disclosed in the press release issued by the NAB
Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting of the NAB Executive Board. During the meeting, the investigation of the new case against Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif was approved, while the details were not disclosed in the meeting.
However, officials say the investigation against Nawaz Sharif is related to the construction of Raiwind Road.
Similarly, a case against Shahbaz Sharif and Sartaj Aziz in connection with the construction of a two-lane road to a private university is being investigated.
PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif is accused of helping Sartaj Aziz as the chief minister as a university official to build these two-way roads.
According to a statement issued by NAB, an inquiry was approved against Punjab Assembly member Mehr Hamid Rashid on allegations of corruption in Haven Villas Faisalabad.
Similarly, during the NAB meeting, an inquiry was also approved against former DIG Police Rana Muhammad Iqbal.
During the meeting, approval was also given to submit the reference of corruption against Arshad Waheed Chief Executive Officer Messrs. ERPL and others to the Accountability Court.
