Modern gate system installed to protect Venice from floods
Karachi (News Desk) For the first time in the history of Tally, a modern system consisting of 78 mobile gates has been tested to prevent floods. The one and a half kilometer long system of gates is called Mose System which is like a small yellow dam. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte says this is a powerful project of its kind that took years to complete. It is to be noted that for many years there were demands for the construction of this system to save the tourist city of Venice and this project has been a source of corruption for a long time. The dam was needed in November 2019 after the first major flood in Venice in 50 years. Work on the project began in 2003, although its design was unveiled in 1980. Delays have tripled the value of the project, while many officials have been arrested for corruption. The Corona virus has caused severe damage to Italy's tourism industry, while the arrival of cruise ships in the region has been suspended. Floods in Venice last year submerged 80 percent of the city. On the occasion of the inauguration of the banana system yesterday, the Prime Minister and three government allies visited the Operation Control Room and reviewed the performance of the system for 90 minutes. During the experiment, research was carried out on gates installed at three major seawater entry points in the city, known as Lido, Malamoco and Chiujia. This system will be activated when a large wave of water moves towards the city, then the gates will open automatically, which will stop the water from flowing towards the city.
