The United States has reinstated sanctions on Iran over its withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
According to the World News Agency, indirect talks between the United States and Iran have entered the final stages of a return to the 2015 global nuclear deal, and the United States has reinstated sanctions on Iran for further progress in the negotiations.
A senior State Department official told World Media that Iran needed to restore the concessions it had made at the technical stage of the talks, even if a final agreement could not be reached.
According to a State Department official, the waiver was revoked by former President Donald Trump in May 2020, and the restoration of the waiver should be seen as a step in the direction of US goodwill and negotiations.
The concessions included replacement of Iran's Arak Heavy Water Research Reactor, supply of enriched uranium for Tehran Research Reactor and overseas shipment of spent and scrap reactor fuel.
Former US President Donald Trump announced in 2018 that he would withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal with the world powers, removing sanctions on Iran and removing all exemptions, but the new US administration is negotiating to return to the agreement.
