Tennis star Peng Shuai, who has accused former Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of sexual harassment, has taken a big u-turn over her post on social media.
In an interview with a French newspaper at the Winter Olympics in China, Peng Shuai said that his post on social media was a "huge misunderstanding" and that he was living a completely free and normal life in China.
However, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) claimed that the French newspaper was forced to ask questions in advance for the interview and that Peng Shuai was interviewed in the presence of representatives of the Chinese Olympic Committee in which the tennis star took the same position. Adopted the Chinese authorities.
"I never said I was sexually harassed," Peng Shuai said in an interview.
It may be recalled that Chinese tennis star Peng Shui had on November 2 accused former Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli of sexual harassment.
The tennis star removed the 1,600-word-long post an hour after it was shared on social media, but by then the Peng Shuai post had spread like wildfire.
The Chinese tennis star has been missing for weeks after the incident, which also raised concerns among the International Olympic Committee and human rights groups.
