The body of a 70-year-old woman who had been sitting in a chair for two years has been found in a house in the Prestino area of northern Italy. The woman's name is Marinella Beretta.
According to the New York Times, a hurricane warning was issued in Prestino. Police called Marinella's home to warn of the dangers of uprooting trees, but no one responded.
When police arrived at Marinella's home, they found her body lying on a chair in the house. Seeing the disfigured condition of the body, it was estimated that the body has been in the same condition for more than 2 years.
Neighbors say they last saw Marinella in September 2019. She didn't show up for long after that, which made her think she had shifted elsewhere.
According to the police statement, the inspection of the scene did not find any evidence indicating any criminal activity. Authorities also say that none of Beretta's family members survived.
The local council has decided to bear all the costs of Beretta's funeral.
