Tesla has been forced to recall 27,000 vehicles after another defect was discovered in its electric vehicles.
Tests have shown that if the temperature drops below minus 10 degrees Celsius, the cabin heating system stops working, due to which the frozen ice on the windshield is not cleaned regularly.
This is the third time in recent weeks that Tesla has had to recall a large number of its vehicles.
Earlier, Tesla had twice recalled a large number of vehicles due to a fault in the seat belt warning alarm and failure to stop at the signals of the automatic driving system.
This only applies in the United States and was part of an agreement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which means that the affected vehicles do not meet safety standards until the defect is removed.
According to Tesla, this defect is present in 2021-2022 Model 3, Model S and Model X vehicles as well as 2020-2022 Model Y vehicles.
Tesla has told regulators that the malfunction may have been caused by an unintentional opening of a valve in the heat pump and the refrigerant being trapped inside the evaporator. Which means windshields are failing to clear snow regularly.
