Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Shura Council unanimously approved changes to the national flag and anthem system.
According to Arab media, the change in the flag system, which was created 50 years ago, is aimed at reflecting the recent changes in Saudi Arabia. All members of the council voted in favor of changing the flag system.
State media reports say the changes are in favor of amendments to the flag, slogan and national anthem system, but not to its contents. The council did not provide further details.
The decisions of the shura are not influenced by current laws and structures, but the vote is important because its members are appointed by the rulers and its decisions are usually made with the consent of the leadership.
