It has been revealed that India has introduced an offline Maps mobile app called 'Desha' to steal data of Android mobile phone users.
The government has issued an advisory to consumers in Pakistan to avoid using the Indian mobile phone app and directed them to download the mobile app only from the Google Play Store along with taking precautionary measures.
The advisory also instructed not to use any unknown server or open the link.
In addition, an advisory has been issued by the National Telecom and Information Security Board (NTISB) which has also been sent to all the Ministries and Divisions and their subsidiaries and affiliates.
It said that it has recently been observed that Indian Origin's third party Android navigation application Desha is being used for offline road navigation.
The advisory states that the mobile app is not available on the Google Play Store and that the mobile phone app can be downloaded from a third party server. The possibility of scale use cannot be ruled out.
The advisory said that the Indian Origin mobile phone app automatically accesses the host system, data store, SMS Red without the prior permission of Desha users. Displays in the grid system which can also be zoomed.
