In the film, the mother is portrayed as a prostitute, the son Gangu Bai

A new controversy has erupted over actress Alia Bhatt's upcoming biographical action film 'Gangu Bai Kathia Wari'.

According to the Indian broadcaster India Times, Alia Bhatt's film is based on the life of the popular 1960s female leader Gangu Bai Kathiawari, which has been objected to by the family of the so-called social leader.

Babu Ji Rao Shah, son of Gangu Bai Kathiawari, has claimed that his mother was portrayed in the film as a 'prostitute' when in fact it was not so.

According to Gangu Bai Kathiawari's adopted son, his mother was a social leader who worked mostly for the welfare of prostitutes but was misrepresented in the film.

He claimed that his mother was not a prostitute but was portrayed as a prostitute in the film.

According to India Times, Gangu Bai's great-granddaughter also objected to the story of the film and said that her grandmother was not a prostitute but a social leader who worked for the welfare of women.

On the other hand, the lawyer of Gangu Bai Kathiawari's family claimed that after the release of the trailer of Alia Bhatt's film, the family of the social leader left their ancestral home and moved to another area.

According to the lawyer, after the story of the film, Gangu Bai's family was criticized by the people and they were taunted that what they used to call social leaders was actually a prostitute.

Earlier, Babu Rao Shah, son of Gangu Bai Kathia Wari, had also filed a case against Alia Bhatt and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali also appeared in the court on the said matter and they have also taken stay order from the court.

The court rejected the petition against the filmmaker and the actress and allowed them to release the film, while Gangu Bai's family had demanded a ban on the film.

The trailer of 'Gangu Bai Kathiawari' was released last year and it was announced to be released in January 2022, but now it will be released by the end of February this year.

The story of the film revolves around the involvement of a prostitute in politics in a brothel and her story is taken from a book.

The film stars Gangu Bai Kathiawari, a woman who has been involved in prostitution and drug trafficking in the Indian city of Mumbai since the 1960s.
