France bans Muslim female footballers from wearing hijab


The French Football Federation has banned Muslim women players from wearing hijabs or scarves during matches, but the Minister for Gender Equality has condemned the move.

According to the International News Agency, the French Minister for Gender Equality Elizabeth Monirio has strongly condemned the decision of the country's football federation to ban Muslim women footballers from wearing hijabs or scarves.

France's Minister for Gender Equality Elizabeth has assured full support to women who go to court against the ban on the headscarf or hijab, saying France is a secular country where everyone enjoys religious freedom.

Presidential elections are set to take place in France two months later, and before that the government of President Emmanuel Macron is enforcing anti-Muslim discriminatory laws to win the votes of extremists.

Recently, an institution has been set up in which Muslims will be branded as terrorists in the name of reform, which has been rejected by the Muslim community.

Similarly, the French Senate proposed a law in January banning the wearing of clear religious symbols in all competitive sports, which was banned by the Football Federation from wearing hijabs and scarves.
