A Russian official says Ukraine has become a pawn in the hands of the United States and NATO.

According to a foreign news agency, Russian Security Council Vice-Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has said that Ukraine is being used as a tool of geopolitical pressure on Russia.

"Unfortunately, it is a fact that Ukraine has become a toy in the hands of NATO and the United States because Ukraine is being used as a tool of geopolitical pressure on Russia," he said.

In Moscow, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports that troops of the Air Defense Forces are arriving on the territory of the Republic of Belarus with weapons and military equipment for exercises.

The department said logistics units had already delivered weapons to train platforms in the Amur region.
