Muhammad Rizwan named ICC Cricketer of the Year

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named young wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan as the best T20 cricketer of the year.

Earlier this week, the ICC announced the T20 squad of the year, which included captain Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, as well as Rizwan.

The ICC said that Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batsman ruled the country in 2021 with his excellent performance in the shortest format of the game.

He scored 1,329 runs in 29 matches at an average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 134.89.

The governing body of the game said that Rizwan played his best game behind the wickets and was also the third most successful batsman in the T20 World Cup.

Rizwan scored his first century in T20 cricket against South Africa early last year and played an 87-run innings against the West Indies in Karachi.

The ICC said that this year too there is a T20 World Cup and it is hoped that Rizwan will continue this excellent performance in the world event.

The ICC praised Rizwan's innings against India in the T20 World Cup, saying it was difficult to score against bowling attacks like Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Shami, but Rizwan played a memorable innings with Babar to lead Pakistan to a historic victory. ۔

Rizwan had scored 79 off 55 balls with six fours and three sixes in the match against India.
