Singer Meesha Shafi has narrated the incidents of harassment by Ali Zafar in the Sessions Court of Lahore and said that the actor harassed her several times.
According to the report, Meesha Shafi appeared for cross-examination on January 4 in a defamation case filed by singer Ali Zafar, before which she also appeared on January 3.
During the interrogation, Meesha Shafi, while answering the questions of Ali Zafar's lawyers, said that 10 to 15 people were present at the time of the incident of harassment during the 'jamming session'.
The singer clarified that she did not witness the incident of harassment at the said place, however, she felt the harassment there.
During the interrogation, Meesha Shafi said that Ali Zafar had behaved inappropriately with him several times before and she had been harassed by him.
The singer said during the interrogation that she was disgusted with Ali Zafar's 'touch', she did not like the process.
During the interrogation, Ali Zafar's lawyers also asked the singer about his former manager Fahad Rehman and asked if he had harassed his former manager.
On which Meesha Shafi said that he did not harass the manager, he had taken his money from him, the former manager accused him of harassment but withdrawing his money cannot be called harassment.
During the hearing, Meesha Shafi, in response to a question, said that she had met Ali Zafar in Canada in 2016 and that the meeting had taken place at a party in which she was accompanied by her husband.
Meesha Shafi said that Ali Zafar "grabbed him by the waist" at the party and tried to harass him.
During the interrogation, the singer said that she did not remember how many times Ali Zafar harassed her but the actors had harassed her several times.
He also confessed to talking to Ali Zafar in a pleasant mood on WhatsApp before accusing him of harassment and said that it was his professional obligation and also his habit of talking in a pleasant manner.
Meesha Shafi's cross-examination could not be completed even on the second day and after a few hours of hearing, the court adjourned the hearing till January 8.
Meesha Shafi had recorded his statement in the case in December 2019 and is now being questioned two years later.
He had said during cross-examination yesterday that the actor had received several awards after his allegations against Ali Zafar, had been awarded a Golden Visa by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and had been honored by the government.
Before Meesha Shafi, his mother Saba Hameed has also completed cross-examination in the said case while before him Ali Zafar and all his witnesses had also completed cross-examination in 2019.
In the same case, Meesha Shafi, while recording his statement in August 2019, claimed that Ali Zafar sexually harassed him several times and for the first time the singer touched him inappropriately during a party held at his in-laws.
Similarly, her husband Mohammad Mahmood had recorded his statement in January 2020 and now Ali Zafar's lawyers will cross-examine the three persons and other witnesses of Meesha Shafi.
After Meesha Shafi, the cross-examination of her husband and other witnesses will be completed, after which the court will likely decide the case.
Ali Zafar had filed a defamation suit against Meesha Shafi after the singer accused him of sexual harassment in April 2018, which he denied.
Ali Zafar later filed a defamation suit against Meesha Shafi in the Sessions Court for making false allegations, which has been pending for the last three and a half years.
