Iran has hinted at opening its embassy in Saudi Arabia, which was closed in 2016 due to tensions.
According to the International News Agency, after the success of the fifth round of direct talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran, an important meeting is going on in Jeddah today.
Iran's top three diplomats have arrived in Jeddah, where they will reopen their country's OIC representative office, which has been closed for six years due to tensions between the two countries.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzada confirmed the diplomats had left for Jeddah, but did not name them.
Spokesman Khatibzada also hinted that Iran is now ready to open its embassy in Saudi Arabia, but that this would require Saudi Arabia to take practical steps.
Saudi embassies in Tehran and Mashhad were attacked in 2016 after the beheading of a Shiite cleric in Saudi Arabia, after which diplomatic relations between the two countries were severed.
Last year, however, Iraq's efforts led to five rounds of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and both countries have expressed a desire for the talks to succeed.
