The biggest impact of the spread of Corona virus type Omicron in Pakistan is being seen in Karachi where the corona case positive rate has increased to more than 15%.
According to Federal Ministry of Health officials, 5,168 tests were conducted in Karachi yesterday in which 780 people were found to be infected with the virus.
On the other hand, the Sindh Health Department said that the rate of Omicron variant has increased to 87% in Karachi.
In a statement, provincial health officials said that 24-generation next-generation sequencing was performed yesterday, of which 21 samples were diagnosed with Omicron variant.
According to officials, the highest number of corona cases in Karachi is in the eastern district, followed by the southern district.
In this regard, Sindh Parliamentary Secretary Health Qasim Soomro said that if the rate of Corona cases continues to increase then strict measures will have to be taken, it is feared that the burden on hospitals will start from next week.
He further added that corona is spreading rapidly at weddings and other gatherings where SOPs are being violated.
The virus situation across the country
On the other hand, in the last 24 hours, 1,572 new cases of Corona virus have been reported across the country, the highest number since October 2.
In addition, this is the fourth day in a row that more than a thousand cases of corona virus have been reported in the country and the positive rate of cases has also increased to 3.16%.

Punjab: 448 cases, 2 deaths
Islamabad: 116 cases
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 42 cases, one death

So far 1,34,058 corona cases have been reported in the country out of which 28,969 affected people have died.
In the last 24 hours, 325 more people have recovered, after which the total number of those who have recovered has reached 12 lakh 58 thousand 657.
There are currently 16,432 active cases of corona virus in Pakistan.
