French company's first SUV introduced in Pakistan


 
Pakistani automobile company Lucky Motors Limited (LML) has announced the price, features and booking of Peugeot 2008, the first car to be assembled in Pakistan by French car maker PSA.

It may be recalled that Lucky Motors had entered into an agreement with PSA in 2019 under which Lucky Motors would assemble, manufacture, market, distribute and sell passenger and light commercial vehicles of the French company in Pakistan.

It is now being implemented in the form of Peugeot 2008, the price, features and details of online booking were released on January 27.

According to Pak Whales, this SUV 2 version will be available in Active and Elver in Pakistan.


It is the first European vehicle in Pakistan to have a unique design with LED headlights DRLS on the front.

Both will have a 1.2 liter turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine equipped with 129 horsepower.

The report further states that the Active version will have 4 airbags for passenger safety while the Elver will have 6 airbags.

Similarly, Acto will have 10 inch quarters while Elver will have 10 inch 3D quarters cluster. The Active does not have a panoramic sunroof but is available in other versions.

The Active will be able to control the radio and Bluetooth with fingerprint controls, while the Elver will be able to control the radio, Bluetooth and cruise control.

Other prominent features include push start system, automatic central door locking, wireless trunk door key, electric power steering, 7-inch touch screen with Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity.


The Active version is priced at Rs. 5250,000 while the Elver will be priced at Rs.

In addition, it can be booked by visiting the authorized dealers of the company, but the company has not yet stated the time of delivery of the vehicle.

The car will be available in Orange Fusion, Clear White, Cherry Black and Sparkling Silver colors.

It may be recalled that Lucky Motors Limited is already introducing KIA vehicles in Pakistan.


In June 2019, Lucky Motors CEO Asif Rizvi told Dawn that initially we have decided to assemble Peugeot vehicles which will be the first in the country to come in the Complete Knock Down Unit (CKD) category. It will be a European car.
