Can a type of corona omicron make children more ill?


 

Coronavirus type omicron can be more dangerous to children than previous types.

This was revealed in a study conducted in South Africa.

The study, by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, examined hospital admission data from South Africa's largest medical insurance program.

This was the data of 56,164 hospital admissions due to the code and its analysis revealed that during the omicron wave in South Africa, the hospital admissions rate for children under 4 years was 49% higher than in Delta.

Similarly, the rate was higher than that of the original virus and its beta type.

According to the study, people between the ages of 4 and 18 were 25 percent more likely to be hospitalized due to Covid-19, compared to Delta, but lower than their son.

According to the study, the hospitalization rate among children increased but the data also showed that the hospitalization rate of omicron in adults was the lowest in South Africa compared to other types of corona.

The researchers said that people under the age of 18 found an increase in cases of Covid-19 and hospital admissions.

He said that this could lead to the possible conclusion that the omicron type has more impact on children and youth than the adult population.

However, the researchers acknowledged that the study did not take into account the fact that cod vaccination rates for children aged 12 to 17 were very low in South Africa as early as November 2021, while children under 12 were not eligible.

He said that the rate of vaccination is much higher in the older population than in the youth.

The study also found that the average age of victims of Covid-19 from omicron was 38.5 years, 40.8 years in the delta wave, 45.6 years in the beta wave and 43 years in the first wave.

According to the study, the hospital admissions rate for all age groups after falling ill with omicron was 15.4%.

In contrast, the rate was 19.3% in the Delta wave, 28.4% in the beta wave and 21.4% in the original virus wave.
