A local court in Lahore has arrested Meesha Shafi on a bailable warrant for not appearing in the social media campaigning case against actor Ali Zafar.
During the hearing of the defamation suit filed by singer Ali Zafar, singer Meesha Shafi applied for one day pardon before the court which was rejected by the court and the arrest warrant of singer Meesha Shafi was issued.
Actress Effat Omar and other accused including Alina Ghani appeared during the hearing but the court summoned Meesha Shafi for the next hearing and adjourned the hearing till February 8.
Earlier, on January 4, 2022, during the hearing of the defamation suit against Meesha Shafi, the lawyers of singer Ali Zafar conducted a 5 hour long interrogation on the statement of Meesha Shafi. How many people I had, Meesha Shafi said there were 10 to 15 people in the room.
Lawyer Ali Zafar said that there is no eyewitness of this incident. Meseha Shafi replied that yes, there is no eyewitness of this incident.

Ali Zafar's lawyer said that he texted in praise of the jamming session on which Meesha Shafi said that Ali Zafar had complimented me on which I texted in Marwat, Meseha Shafi's whatsapp from Ali Zafar The print of what was said on the app was submitted to the court.
It should be noted that in April 2018, Mesha Shafi had accused Ali Zafar on Twitter that he had physically harassed him on more than one occasion.
In response, Ali Zafar filed a defamation suit against Meseha stating that Meesha used his Twitter account on April 19, 2018 to post derogatory and false allegations against me.
The singer denied the allegations and said that the accused could not give a satisfactory answer despite being given several opportunities to defend himself. Meesha Shafi should pay one billion rupees as damages for making false allegations.
Meesha Shafi, who appeared in the case for the first time in December 2019 and recorded the statement, appeared for the first time in a defamation case against her on December 16, 2020, two years later.
