In the Iraqi capital, ISIS fighters took advantage of the night's darkness to attack a military base, killing 11 people.
According to the international news agency, ISIS fighters entered the military base located in the mountainous area of Al-Azm district in the northern part of the Iraqi capital Baghdad last night and indiscriminately opened fire on the personnel sleeping in the barracks.
At least 11 ISIS fighters have been killed. The assailants also took weapons, ammunition and military vehicles with them. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police recruiting center.
In Iraq, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) announced in 2014 that it would occupy a large part of the country and establish its own government.
Most of the area has been liberated from ISIS control, but there are still ISIS fighters in remote rural areas who have left their bases and are still operating.
