The Taliban also banned women from traveling in the city without male relatives.
According to the International News Agency, the Minister for Enlightenment and Prohibition of Denial has instructed the owners of transports operating in and out of the city to accommodate only women wearing Islamic hijab.
The order, issued by the Ministry of Promotion and Prevention of Evil, further states that women traveling long distances must have a close male relative.
The ministry has already ordered a ban on music playing in vehicles.
Earlier, the Ministry of Justice and Prohibition had directed television channels to block dramas and advertisements featuring female actors and women TV journalists were also asked to wear hijab.
It should be noted that the Taliban had promised to change the style of governing now as compared to their first term in power in the 1990s. Despite this, there are restrictions on the education and employment of women and girls.
