Indian filmmakers unhappy with actors' pay hike

Many well-known and big Indian filmmakers have expressed frustration over the trend of actors raising crores of rupees in their salaries despite the Corona epidemic.

Recently, Bollywood filmmakers Karan Johar, Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, Nakhak Advani and Sameer Nayyar, while talking to showbiz outlet 'Film Campaign', expressed regret over the 100 per cent increase in remuneration by the actors.

According to Indian filmmakers, it is surprising that new heroes and heroines like big and superstars have also increased their pay by 100%, which used to be Rs 150 million, now they are taking Rs 300 million.

According to Karan Johar, if some superstars talk about increasing the compensation, it is understandable, but the situation is that the new actors have also increased the compensation.

The well-known filmmaker complained that even new actors talk of paying Rs 20 to 30 crore while writers, directors, editors and other technicians get very low compensation as compared to them.

Like him, filmmaker Reema Kagti also said that apart from big and well-versed actors, new actors have also doubled their remuneration under the pretext of releasing epidemics and films.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Nikhal Advani said that an actor demanded Rs 135 crore from him, to which producer Zoya Akhtar said that if any actor demanded such compensation from her, she would stop making the film.

The host asked Karan Johar that his production house is very big, why he does not refuse to give huge compensation to new high paid actors? No, that's why it is not done.

At the same time, he admitted that films are made by editors and other technicians, but surprisingly, where an actor takes Rs 150 million, an editor demands Rs 55 lakh.

Although all the filmmakers complained about the huge remuneration of the actors, none of the producers mentioned the names of the actors.

In India, new actors usually get paid between Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crore per film. New actors include Sara Ali Khan, Jhanvi Kapoor and Ananya Pandey.

Actors with moderate experience in Bollywood get paid Rs 4 to 6 crore and such actors include actors like Alia Bhatt, Vicky Koshal and Bhoomi Padnikar.

After that, big stars like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Sanam Kapoor get compensation of Rs 15-25 crore.

Indian superstars including actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan get paid Rs 100 crore or more.
