The Indian Air Force has confirmed claims that Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat was killed in a helicopter crash in the state of Tamil Nadu.
A statement issued by the Indian Air Force said that all the occupants of the helicopter, including General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat, were killed.
Earlier, the ANI news agency had said that the helicopter that crashed in Tamil Nadu had 14 people on board, including General Bipin Rawat and his wife, of whom 13 were confirmed dead. The bodies will be identified through DNA testing

The death of General Bipin Rawat was not officially confirmed for several hours after the accident but Indian Army Lieutenant General (retd) HS Panag had earlier claimed that General Bipin Rawat was also killed in the accident.
