In Ambala, Haryana, India, angry mobs attacked a church and smashed a statue of Jesus.
According to Indian news agency NDTV, police are examining CCTV footage but have not been able to identify the culprits.
According to SHO Naresh of Saddar Police Station, at 12:30 pm, two persons climbed over the four walls of the church and entered and broke the statue of Jesus at 1:40 pm.
He said that the culprits have not been identified so far but police teams have been appointed to search for the culprits, a complaint has been lodged in this regard and action will be taken accordingly.
An FIR has been lodged at the Ambala Cantt police station in the light of church officials and CCTV footage.
A day before the incident, a Santa Claus effigy was set on fire by angry mobs in Agra on Friday.
The incident took place a day before Christmas at St. John's College, where a procession led by Antarashtriya Hindu Parishad and Rashtriya Bajrang Dal set fire to a Santa Claus effigy and chanted Santa Claus slogans.
Earlier on Thursday, a church was vandalized by unidentified assailants in Chakablapur area, 65 km from Bangalore in Karnataka state.
The 150-year-old church was vandalized with a statue of St. Anthony and police say they have launched an investigation.
It should be noted that since the Modi government came to power, the number of attacks on religious minorities in India has been increasing with each passing day. ۔
In 2021, there were 39 reported hate attacks on Christians in the state of Karnataka alone, and these attacks have been blamed on India's far-right organizations.
The attacks come as Karnataka has passed an anti-conversion bill following allegations by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Bharatiya Janata Party had alleged that people were being forcibly converted and converted from Hindu to Christian.
