The hearing on the request to increase the price of electricity in terms of fuel adjustment will be held today. The price of electricity is likely to be Rs 4.75 per unit.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) said in the petition that electricity was generated at Rs 25.22 per unit from diesel and Rs 22 per unit from furnace oil in October. Electricity was generated at 21 paisa per unit, electricity from water was 23.26 per cent, coal was 16.69 per cent, furnace oil was 10.88 per cent and diesel was 0.51 per cent.
The CPPA took a stand in the petition that 9.67 per cent electricity was generated from gas and 23.96 per cent from LNG last month.
If the CPPA application is approved, there will be an additional burden of Rs 60 billion on consumers. Companies were asked to review the law to amend it.
