One girl died on the spot while another was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
It can be seen in the video that the girls were standing to cross the road when suddenly the driver of the speeding vehicle crushed them and fled.
According to eyewitnesses, at around 8.30 am, two girls were waiting to cross the road in front of the gate when a speeding vehicle crushed the girls and fled.
According to the report, the vehicle was being driven by a police sub-inspector. The accident was so horrific that a girl identified as Navjot Kaur died on the spot. The girl injured in the accident was identified as Mamta.
The two girls from Dhanuwali village were employed in a private company.
Residents of Jalandhar blocked the road in protest of the accident and demanded the arrest of the police officer.
Police Commissioner Nohal Singh said that after the incident, due to the protest of the residents, there was a traffic jam on the highway and they are reviewing the incident.
