An internal research by Facebook, the world's largest social networking site, has shown that the content of celebrities on Instagram leads to negative trends in their followers.
According to Reuters, the results of a survey conducted by Facebook in the year 2020 on Instagram users in 9 countries, including the United States, Australia and Brazil, were recently published by the Wall Street Journal.
The study asked 100,000 Instagram users in nine countries various questions, including whether they think wrongly after seeing the content of celebrities or whether negative or dangerous thoughts come to their minds. ۔
Users were also asked how frustrated they are with life after seeing content on Instagram.
Researchers were not asked to mention the accounts they follow or view.
However, after their responses, Facebook and Instagram looked at the records of these users and found that they follow well-known showbiz personalities and keep watching their content.
The study found that people who followed Kim Kardashian, Billy Ilish, Kendall Jenner, Justin Bieber, dancer Charlie de Emilio, Ariana Grande and other members of the Kadishian family had more negative tendencies and began to think negatively about themselves.
The results did not specify what negative tendencies are created in users who follow celebrities or view their content, or who and why they feel bad compared to others.
However, the results show that consumers who follow almost all the famous showbiz and TV personalities have negative thoughts or bad thoughts.
The results also show that users who follow Alien de Jenners, Diane Johnson, Will Smith and footballer Neymar are less likely to have negative tendencies, but they are not immune to negative thoughts.
Prior to the study, another study by Facebook in mid-September showed that Instagram could have a negative effect on young people's mental health.
The study, which ran internally under Facebook for three years, found that Instagram had a negative effect on young users, especially girls.
The results of the study, which was presented to the company in 2019, found that one in three young girls using Instagram had a body image issue.
According to the study, young people also said that using Instagram also increases their anxiety and depression.
