Summoned in money laundering case, Nora Fatehi's explanatory statement came to light


 
A spokeswoman for Moroccan-Canadian and Indian actress and dancer Nora Fatehi issued an explanatory statement regarding the interrogation in the money laundering case.

According to India Today, Nora Fatehii was summoned by the India Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in a fraud case, after which her spokesperson issued a statement claiming that the actress was involved in money laundering activities are not part.

It may be recalled that on October 14, Nora Fatehi was questioned by the Financial Investigation Agency of India (FIA) in her Delhi office for more than eight hours over her alleged involvement with Rs 200 crore fraud accused Skesh Chandra Shekhar.


An explanatory statement issued by the actress' spokesperson said that Nora Fatehi was one of the victims of the case and as a witness she was cooperating in the investigation and assisting the officers.

"Nora Fatihi was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate where she appeared and recorded her statement regarding the case," the statement said.

Sources said that during the interrogation, Nora Fatehi and Skesh Chandrasekhar were asked about their meetings and transactions.

According to sources, Nora Fatehi had attended a function at the invitation of Lena Maria Paul, wife of Skesh Chandra Shekhar.


At the ceremony, Skesh allegedly gave Nora Fatehi expensive gifts worth crores of rupees.

Earlier, the ED had recorded the statement of another Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez in August and September in connection with the case.

Sources told India Today that Jacqueline Fernandez's statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a fraud case registered against Skesh Chandra Shekhar.

Skeesh Chandra Shekhar, who is in ED custody along with his wife Lena Maria Paul, is accused of defrauding a businessman of Rs 200 crore over a period of one year (May 2020 to June 2021).


More than 20 cases of extortion have also been registered against him and he ran a racket from inside the jail cell.
