An application has been filed in the Mumbai High Court for bail for the son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who was arrested on charges of possession and use of drugs.
Earlier on October 20, the Mumbai Sessions Court had rejected Aryan Khan's bail application, while on October 7, the Metropolitan Court had also rejected his application.
The Times of India reported that Aryan Khan's lawyers filed the petition in the High Court soon after the Sessions Court rejected the petition.
The petition filed by Shah Rukh Khan's son's lawyers is likely to be heard by 11 a.m. on October 21, the report said.
Following a petition filed by Aryan Khan's lawyers in the High Court, the Narcotics Force's legal team expressed good wishes for the Bollywood actor's son.
In this regard, the Hindustan Times reported that Aryan Khan's lawyers had filed a petition in the High Court on the afternoon of October 20 and they had tried to get their petition heard on the same day but it did not happen.
A single bench of the Mumbai High Court will hear Aryan Khan's bail application on October 21 and the Narcotics Force's legal team was also briefed on the latest developments, the report said.
According to the report, the legal team of the Anti-Narcotics Force confirmed that Aryan Khan's bail application would be heard in the Mumbai High Court on October 21.
In a petition filed in the High Court by the lawyers of Shah Rukh Khan's son, allegations were leveled against the Narcotics Force and their claims were declared false.
The petition said that Aryan Khan was neither arrested at the scene nor drugs were recovered from him personally.
Prior to the High Court, the Sessions Court had on October 20 rejected Aryan Khan's bail, while on October 7, the Metropolitan Court had also rejected his bail application.
Aryan Khan is currently in jail on a 14-day remand along with his accomplices and has already spent 13 days in jail.
Shah Rukh Khan's son was arrested along with his accomplices from a cruise ship on the beach in Mumbai on October 3. He is accused of intending to have a drug party with the accomplices.
He was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Control Bureau from a cruise party including friends Arbaaz Merchant, Manman Dhamicha, Nopur Srika, Smit Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chopra and Gomat Chopra.
Aryan Khan is currently in Mumbai's Arthur Jail along with his other accomplices, while two other women, including Manman Dhamicha, who were arrested along with him, have been kept in the women's jail.
Due to the arrest of Aryan Khan and the ongoing court proceedings, his case has become a very high profile case in India and politicians have also jumped on the issue.
Many are calling the arrest of the Muslim actor's son and the court proceedings against him an act against Muslims, while some are calling the case an act of narcotics force.
