ISLAMABAD: Prominent nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has passed away.
According to news, prominent nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has passed away at the age of 85. He was ill for a long time. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was diagnosed with corona virus on August 26. Later, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was admitted to the coveted ward of Kahuta Research Laboratory Hospital due to critical condition.
The family of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan says that the deceased wanted his funeral prayers to be offered at Faisal Masjid, and keeping in view his wish, Mohsin Pakistan's funeral prayers should be offered at 3 pm at Faisal Masjid Islamabad. The Vice Chancellor of the International Islamic University will lead the funeral prayers.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was instrumental in making Pakistan a nuclear power and making its defense invincible. In May 1998, Pakistan successfully tested the Indian atomic bomb. Dr. Qadeer Khan oversaw the experiment in the mountains of Chaghi, Balochistan. He has also written more than 150 scientific research articles.
Living conditions
Born on April 1, 1936 in Bhopal, present day India, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan came to Pakistan with his family after the formation of Pakistan and settled in Karachi. He graduated in Metallurgy from Karachi University in 1960. He later moved to Europe for further studies, pursuing higher education in Germany and the Netherlands. He holds a Masters of Science from the Netherlands and a Doctorate of Engineering from Belgium.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan returned to Pakistan in 1976 at the request of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto after living in Europe for 15 years. He joined the Engineering Research Laboratories on May 31, 1976. Later, on May 1, 1981, General Zia-ul-Haq renamed the institute "Dr. AQ Khan Research Laboratories". It is a major player in uranium enrichment in Pakistan.
Kahuta Research Laboratories not only developed the atomic bomb, but also contributed to the development of a number of low- and medium-range missiles for Pakistan, including the Ghauri missile, which has a range of 1,000 km. On August 14, 1996, then-President Farooq Leghari awarded him Pakistan's highest civilian honor, the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, in 1989.
