Uttar Pradesh: Police have arrested Ashish Mishra, the son of a Modi government minister who crushed and killed peasant protesters under his car in India after a massive public protest.
According to Indian media, Uttar Pradesh police were finally forced to arrest Ashish Mishra, son of Modi government's Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra, after public protests across the state.
Ashish Mishra has been arrested by the police and a case has been registered and a formal investigation has been launched. The Home Minister had announced the arrest of his son only yesterday in the wake of public protests.
Two suspects are already in custody in the case. Police had also posted a notice to come to Ashish Mishra's house for interrogation before his arrest, but the minister's son had put the legal action on the tip of his shoe.
It may be recalled that last week, farmers in Uttar Pradesh staged a protest in Kolkata on the arrival of government ministers, during which Home Minister Ajay Kumar's son drove over the protesters, killing nine farmers.
