The federal government has decided to deal with the banned Tehreek-e-Libek Pakistan (TLP), which has been staging sit-ins for the past several days, as a militant organization and launch an operation against them.
Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that the banned TLP would no longer be seen as a political and religious party but as a militant organization. The TLP, which has been dealt with by other militant organizations, will be dealt with in the same way.
Fawad Chaudhry said that it has been decided in the cabinet meeting to maintain the writ of the state. There is also a limit to the patience of the state. How many days will we take care of you? Challenging the state writ will not be tolerated.
Fawad Chaudhry further said that IG Punjab Police would provide details of the operation against the banned TLP.
Fawad Chaudhry also requested other state institutions to reconsider their decisions regarding the TLP.
