Deepfake technology has become a weapon against women

The current era of technology is called but its use is more negative than positive and one of them is the kind of deepfake that can ruin anyone's life.

Deep fake photos or videos are those in which the viewers are saying or doing things that they have never done before and for this purpose a lot of photo data is required to create real looking footage or photo.

And now a new study reveals that the technology is being used against women.

The study by Deep Trace, a cybersecurity company based in the Netherlands, found that in one year, 96% of online Deepfake videos were made up of porn videos, and all of them changed women's faces. While they were seen more than 130 million times.

Daniel Citron, a law professor at Boston University, told researchers that Deepfake is being used as a weapon against women.

"Using deep-faked technology as a weapon against women, their faces are being used in pornographic videos. It's terrifying, embarrassing, disgusting and tongue-in-cheek," she said. It can make it harder for you to stay online, get a job or keep it and feel safe.

The research revealed that since December 2018, the company has discovered that there are 14,000 videos online with Deepfake technology, which is more than the previous year, and 96% of them are pornographic videos.

According to the research, several such sites started working in February last year which are giving place to deep fake porn and out of these, more than 134 million views were recorded in the top 4 sites.

The popularity of popular face-changing algorithms in GitHub has played a key role in advancing deep-fiction technology, as have machine learning techniques.

In June last year, a mobile app was launched that could create a nude photo of any woman in minutes.

The app, called Deep Nude, was heavily criticized in various articles after it came to light and was warned of the serious consequences of its misuse, which led to its immediate closure.

The new research shows that there are now a number of apps, online marketplaces and services that help you create deep-fake videos in minutes, so even if you are not an expert in technology, you can get a fake by paying a few rupees.
