A passenger boat capsized in a river in the Central African Republic of Congo, killing 51 people and leaving 70 missing.
A passenger boat carrying more than 100 people, including women and children, capsized in a river in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the International News Agency.
Rescuers have pulled out 51 bodies from the river and rescued 35 people, but more than 70 are still missing.
A spokesman for the rescue team told the media that the search for the missing passengers was ongoing but the chances of them being found alive were slim.
The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, but overcrowding may be one of the reasons why conventional wooden boats are commonly used.
