The court has extended the remand of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, till October 30 in a drug possession and use case.
Aryan Khan's 14-day judicial remand was completed on October 21, on which the court extended his remand for another nine days.
According to the Indian newspaper India Today, after the remand of Aryan Khan and 8 other accused was completed, the special court extended their remand for 9 days.
The report said that the other eight accused, including Aryan Khan, were not produced in court and their statements were not recorded through video call.
Following the completion of the remand of all the arrested accused as per the law, the court extended their remand for nine days and ordered to keep them in judicial custody till October 30.
Normally, Indian courts extend the remand for another 14 days, but in early November, due to judicial holidays, the remand of other accused, including Aryan Khan, was extended by nine days.
Due to Diwali on November 4 in India, there will be holidays in courts and other public and private departments, due to which Aryan Khan and other accused will now be produced in court on October 30.
Aryan Khan was transferred to Mumbai's Arthur Jail on October 7 on judicial remand and his bail applications were rejected by the Metropolitan and Sessions Court.
Aryan Khan has now filed a bail application in the Mumbai High Court, which is likely to be heard on October 26.
Shah Rukh Khan's son was arrested along with his accomplices from a cruise ship on the beach in Mumbai on October 3. He is accused of intending to have a drug party with the accomplices.
He was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Control Bureau from a cruise party including friends Arbaaz Merchant, Manman Dhamicha, Nopur Srika, Smit Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chopra and Gomat Chopra.
Aryan Khan is currently in Mumbai's Arthur Jail along with his other accomplices, while two other women, including Manman Dhamicha, who were arrested along with him, have been kept in the women's jail.
Due to the arrest of Aryan Khan and the court proceedings, his case has become a very high profile case in India and politicians have also jumped on the issue.
Many are calling the arrest of the Muslim actor's son and the court proceedings against him an act against Muslims, while some are calling the case an act of narcotics force.
