A local court in India has rejected the bail pleas of Aryan Khan, the 23-year-old son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and fashion designer Gauri Khan, arrested in a drug use and possession case.
According to the Times of India, Aryan Khan and his co-accused Arbaaz Merchant and model Manman Dhamicha had also applied for bail in the Metropolitan Court, which was rejected by the court.
During the hearing, Aryan Khan's lawyer told the court that the narcotics force had not caught his client using or possessing drugs with red hands, nor had his client admitted the charges, so he should be released on bail. However, the court rejected his application.
During the hearing, which lasted for several hours, the Narcotics Force opposed Aryan Khan's bail application and informed the court that the accused must be in custody.
After the court rejected his application, Aryan Khan was transferred to Arthur Jail in Mumbai along with other accomplices. He will remain in jail on judicial remand for another 13 days.
According to India Today, Aryan Khan and his accomplices were granted bail before their transfer to jail, which was rejected by the court.
Aryan Khan and the seven accused arrested along with him were sent to jail on October 7 by the Metropolitan Court on a 14-day judicial remand.
Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3 by the Narcotics Control Bureau of India (NCB) on drug charges, including friends Arbaaz Merchant, Manman Dhamicha, Nopur Srika, Smit Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chopra and Gomat Chopra.
The Narcotics Force produced Aryan Khan along with his accomplices in court on October 4 and initially obtained his physical remand till October 7, after which he was produced in court again.
The Narcotics Force had on October 7 also sought extension of Aryan Khan's physical remand, which was rejected by the court and he was sent to jail on judicial remand.
Now Aryan Khan and his accomplices will be produced in the anti-narcotics court after October 21, but before that, Aryan Khan's parents are likely to file a petition in the high court.
This is the first time that Bollywood Khan's son has been arrested by the police in a case. Shah Rukh Khan or any of his family members have never been arrested before, but cases have been registered against the actor in the past. ۔
Even before Shah Rukh Khan's son, the children of several Bollywood personalities or self-successful actors have been arrested on charges of drug use or having drug parties with friends.
Along with Aryan Khan, 39-year-old model Manman Dhamicha has also been arrested. All these people were having a cruise party in the sea near Mumbai when they were arrested by the Narcotics Force on charges of drug use.
