ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has decided not to open video sharing app TikTok.
According to Express News, a meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which a 21-point agenda was considered. The Cabinet considered the issue of banning video sharing app TikTok in the light of court decisions and orders. Sources said that the cabinet has decided to maintain the ban on TikTok.
It is to be noted that PTA has banned TikTok. On a petition against the ban on the app, the Islamabad High Court had directed PTA to keep the matter in the federal cabinet.
The apex court in its written judgment had said that the PTA could not provide any justification for banning TikTok. The sign of decline in society cannot be matched with the content on social media sites. The extraordinary development of technology globally has posed many challenges to society.
