The Parliamentary Sub-Public Accounts Committee has revealed that the number of gas theft cases of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited has increased in the current government as compared to the previous government. According to the audit brief presented before the committee, The theft caused a loss of Rs 686 million to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited and more than Rs 1.17 billion worth of gas was stolen in 2019-20. ۔
According to details, a meeting of the sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament was held under the chairmanship of Convener Committee Naveed Qamar, in which the audit objections of the Petroleum Division for the years 2010-11 to 2017-18 were reviewed. According to the report, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited incurred a loss of Rs. 686 million due to gas theft by various consumers in 2015-16. Cases were reported.
According to the audit brief, in 2019-20, 14328 cases of gas theft were reported by domestic consumers while 295 cases of gas theft were reported by commercial consumers. In 2019-20, gas worth Rs 1173 million was stolen. The committee referred the audit object related to gas theft to the review and implementation committee of the Public Accounts Committee.
