The New Zealand cricket team has decided to postpone the One Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and the Black Caps due to 'security concerns' just hours before the start of the first match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
A statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said, "The New Zealand Cricket Board has informed us that they have been alerted about the security situation and therefore has decided to unilaterally postpone the series."
The statement said that the Pakistan Cricket Board and the government of Pakistan had made foolproof arrangements for the security of the visiting team. We made the same assurance to the New Zealand Cricket Board and the Prime Minister personally contacted the Prime Minister of New Zealand and told him that our security intelligence is one of the best in the world and there is no security threat to the visiting team.
"The New Zealand team officials were satisfied with the security of the Pakistani government," he said.
