Former puppet Chief Minister of Occupied Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the death of Syed Ali Raza Gilani in a tweet.

According to a Kashmiri journalist, as soon as the news of Syed Ali Gilani's death was received, the movement of the occupying Indian army in the occupied valley has increased and a possible curfew is being prepared. Syed Ali Gilani wanted to be buried in the Martyrs' Cemetery in Srinagar, but according to a Kashmiri journalist, he could be buried in the cemetery near his residence in Haiderpura.

It may be recalled that Syed Ali Gilani was the head of the All Party Hurriyat Conference. He spent his entire life fighting for the independence of Kashmir. He wanted to see Kashmir as part of Pakistan but this wish could not be fulfilled while he was alive. His slogan "We are Pakistanis, Pakistan is ours" breathed new life into the hearts of the freedom fighters. Syed Ali Gilani was the only leader of Kashmir who was born before the partition of India. Now all the leaders of Kashmir's independence movement have been born after 1947.
